Black Lives Matter
On February 23rd, 2020, Ahmaud Arbery was hunted down and killed by three armed civilians, despite being unarmed and without committing a crime. On March 13th, 2020, Breonna Taylor was killed in her own home after officers of the law operated on a “no-knock” search warrant at a time when the suspects in question were already in police custody. On May 25, 2020, George Floyd was killed as an officer of the law knelt on his neck for 8 minutes and 46 seconds. These events ignited a historic moment where ‘SayHerName’ and ‘Black Lives Matter’ protests swept the Globe.
On June 5th, 2020, Providence youth organized a ‘Black Lives Matter’ protest that had over a thousand participants. Individuals from a variety of backgrounds came together to fight for Black Lives.
